Music... What can I say about music that most people don't know? Music is about feelings...about emotions and I love the highs and lows of it. A lot of people use their music to pass a message across, to motivate, to give hope, to express their feelings and some use it to explain a situation to us. Music is expressive and this is why it is powerful.
The first song I am going with for today is:

Title of Song: "Hope"
This music sometimes brings tears to my eyes and I meant that. Life deals with us differently and you can't understand someone without knowing about the things they have had to deal with. I've gone through a lot and others can say the same too but we would always want to hang on to a bit of hope we can lay our hands on. It might not mean anything to others but as long as it means something to you, hang in there.
We all want that hope. Ease after war, port after stormy seas, sleep after toil...they please the heart. I love this Shaggy song of hope because he perfectly described a lot of situations and the message is clear, we need to hang on. We don't need to give up. We have come long enough to give up now. We can't throw it all away. We can't just throw in the towel. We have to keep pushing, keep fighting and that's what life is all about.
Sometimes we think we have no strength left to give but we would be surprised how far we can go from the point we thought was the end. We all have stories and the problem is sometimes we are not saying them. The more we share our stories the more hope we give to others because when people hear what you've gone through, there is this sense of calm to let them know they are not alone and if you came out of it, they can too. This song is personal for Shaggy because he was raised by a single mother in Jamaica. They struggled, they didn't have much to cater for themselves but no one is poor enough not to afford hope. Hope was all Shaggy had. Looking back on his success, he noticed that those experiences made him who he is today...

The second song I will be sharing for today is:
Artist: "Shaggy"
Title of Song: "Strength of a Woman"
This is one amazing song that I love. You can understand Shaggy's appreciation for women especially because he was raised with his brother by his mother...that was the story he shared in the song "Hope". Most of the time, what we go through should make us understand things better but for some, it makes them go the opposite way. I am glad Shaggy knows this better and he highlighted the strength of a woman which I am sure he got from his experience with his mother.
Women are naturally blessed to be protective, instinctive, and strong and words alone cannot adequately do justice to explain how important women are. I love how Shaggy highlighted this whole thing and women deserve more recognition for how awesome they are.
It's not so much about gender per se, it runs deep and it's a call for women to recognize their true worth, their abilities and carry themselves that way without giving discount.

Artist: "Shaggy"
Title of Song: "It Wasn't Me"
A lot of people think this song is supporting cheating but it isn't. I listened to the interview that Shaggy gave regarding this song and the inspiration behind it. He said he was watching a comedy show by Eddie Murphy when he was caught cheating. The woman came in and he was saying it wasn't him. The woman said but I caught you on the counter, saw you on the sofa, even on camera and you are saying it wasn't you? Shaggy said it was a comedy show and they made it so funny and that was how he got the inspiration behind the song.
The song doesn't support cheating but it is anti-cheating if anyone listened to the last part of the song. He said his producer rejected the song at first before they finally accepted.

Shaggy made us understand that the reasons that the guy was giving don't make sense at all because he was clearly in the wrong. He was wrong and should apologize instead of taking the lady for a ride. He called the guy "lost" and he needs to find himself to be able to stop the errors of his ways.
