Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - a very basic battle

I fought an interesting battle in Modern Diamond ranked. This game has several rule sets that make up a very basic battle with hardly any abilities. Back to Basics is the first one, which removes abilities from all units. After that, we have Shades of Gray, which limits both players to the same set of units, regardless of summoner choice. Finally, we have Unprotected, which removes all the armor. We could have a battle even more basic if it were Silenced Summoners instead of Unprotected but I'm glad it isn't because summoner choice becomes very important and it gives some color to this battle.

I went with Lorkus for the Magic buff and the Tactics (Life Leech). Chaos Agent was my first unit, followed by Halfling Refugee. Next, I put Venator Kinjo and Xenith Archer. I finished with the stars of the team: Chaos Adjutant and Magi of Chaos. They opted for Ilthain with Xenith Monk in front. They placed Halfling Refugee and Elanor Bravefoot next. After that it was 3 GF ranged units: Xenith Archer, Supply Runner, and Gargoya Devil.

A big blow to my strategy, I got distracted and missed the window to apply the Tactics. They had the speed advantage and took out my Chaos Agent. However, I was able to get rid of their Monk. Both Refugees were left at 1 HP. In round 2, I lost Refugee and Venator but I managed to take out 3 of their monsters. In the third round, they killed my Archer but, my magic units finished Supply Runner. Since they only had 1 unit left and it was ranged, the game was over.

A big distraction on my side could have been a deadly mistake. However, my general strategy was superior and it ended up without consequences. Magic is already usually stronger than the other types of attacks, but it gets even better in Back to Basics.
