Title: A small world in the palm of a hand
Moss is a plant that is so tiny that it frequently requires close-up photography. This plant covers a significant portion of the bricks of the wall in the northern section of my yard. As I frequently pass by, I can see that this seemingly tiny world is actually quite large, and that in addition to moss, there are commonly many insects as well. Moss is different from other land plants. Sporophytes are the upright, stem-like forms, while gametophytes are the lower, leaf-like forms.
This development of both forms can create mosses that mimic miniature forests. They can serve as a suitable scenery and setting for photos when combined with various tiny insects. Sadly, the winter season has left very few insects in sight. I'll attempt to take another set of close-up pictures of the insects and moss since the temperature is predicted to rise soon and the yard will probably be filled with them.
