I spend most of my time in front of my screen surfing these sites mindlessly: YouTube, 9GAG, Reddit, Facebook, sports blogs, porn sites, etc. I fill my brain with useless information that makes me tired and unfocused.
It is somewhat ironic that I found on Reddit, one of the sites I'm addicted to, something that might help me curb my addiction to the internet. I found the NoSurf subreddit.
Apparently, there are many people like me that has this problem. They shared stories and some even succeeded to manage their addiction. But there are still many more who are not aware of this problem. It starts with awareness.
I tried doing the NoSurf habit where I don't surf mindlessly from 6 pm to 12 pm. I was able to do it for some time but I was not able to consistently do it. And now I am starting again. It's really really hard. I relapse all the time but I am going to continue trying. I must continue to be mindful of what I am doing and make sure to reward myself when I do good. A form of reward is I gave myself a short time of mindless surfing in the afternoon after I did some work in the office.
