Hello, everyone.
I welcome to my blog another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. The advancement of our world has made our lives a lot easier compared to what our forefathers and even fathers had. When you hear the stories from our fathers, you realise many of them wished and wanted to be educated, but then they could not afford it, and the government did nothing to support them or help make their dreams a reality, and many of them were forced into business not because that is what they wanted but because that is what they could afford, and then they settled for it. At least 6 out of 10 of our fathers had the dream of going to high school and college, but then they did not get the opportunity and support to do so.
Now we have the government giving a little support in the form of a loan to students, and trust me when I say that we could have had many dropouts and also many who cannot afford tuition fees if not for these loans and support from the government. Many people are able to see themselves through school thanks to the student loan offered to them. We don't have a decline in education as a result of these loans because, on a normal basis, with how much the price of education skyrocketed, it was normal to have it decline because the initial price was unaffordable for many. What's more, when it skyrockets by two times the normal price or even three times the normal price.
Now these student loans accumulate and compound, and over time they become too much and nearly impossible to pay back. Some people spend almost all their lives paying back these loans and the interest included, and no doubt we all have experienced what it feels like to pay back a debt; it stops you from gaining financial freedom and keeps your finances unstable and very shaky. Debt, no matter how small, can ruin one's plans and push them off balance; once one is in debt, they might never be able to attain financial stability again.
Somehow these loans can be made to disappear, and the general public can be made to pay for them through an increment in their taxes, but the question is, is the general public willing to take up such a burden? Not everyone is willing to take the fall for another, and whoever took a loan should have a plan on his to pay it back, but in the case the plans do not play out, well, then they just have to fund a way around it because everyone has their problems and will not want any of them being added to the ones on the ground.
If others are willing to help bring those who took student loans out of their struggles and will agree that taxes be increased, I am not a supporter of that. The taxes we pay are already high enough and take up almost half, if not half, of our earnings, and then we have the other half to take care of our never-ending needs. What more if it is slashed again as a result of an increase in taxes? Then what do we do? How do we cope? So the fact that we are already dealing with our own stops us from being able to take the fall for another. I think everyone just has to deal with their own in the best way that they can.
