Hello, everyone.
Welcome to my blog and another wonderful edition of the Hive Learner's featured post. Our world is evolving, and the evolution is continuous and nonstop, which makes the knowledge of artificial intelligence, robotics, and technology very important for both kids and adults, especially kids, to help them adapt and fit into the technological world our world is turning into. In the current world we live in, those without knowledge of artificial intelligence, robots, and how technology feels left out because everything is automated these days, and without the knowledge needed to fit in, they are left out of every conversation since almost every conversation these days revolves around all of these.
Technology has different branches, and when they say they are into tech, it can actually be any of the many branches that exist, one of which is coding. As humans, we all have passions for different branches of tech; it can be graphic design, it can be video editing, or it can be that one lives to code and is giving it their all to ensure they master their craft, which is never easy. In our world today, everyone has dived into tech and is involved in one of the many branches of tech and is doing everything they can to master it. Some parents are forcing kids to learn one tech skill or another they feel is best for them without asking the kid what they actually have a passion for, which is quite wrong.
This is one argument people can go on and on about, but forcing kids to learn coding is not the best way to get them involved in our technological world. There are many branches of tech, and the child might not have interest or passion for coding; forcing it on him or her will, in the long run, be a total waste of time. Learning coding or any tech skill comes with difficulties, challenges, and obstacles; the only thing that will keep one going when those challenges come knocking is their interest or passion for it. Forcing a kid to learn coding is not the right way to go about things.
No matter how important coding is in our world today, I don't think forcing it on any child is the best way to handle the situation. No matter how small a child is, I think they should be allowed to follow any tech skill they have a passion for instead of forcing a particular one on them, any tech skill they know they can see through till the end, and not just forcing coding on them whether they like it or not or are willing to see it through to the end or not. In most cases the things we did because it was forced on us did not benefit us in any way because the moment we encountered any difficulty, we'd just give up and move on to something else.
Kids should be allowed to learn any tech skill they deem fit and not forced to take up a particular one. Teachers for as many tech skills as possible should be made available in schools to ensure that they have as many tech courses as possible. Coding is good, but like I said earlier, there are difficulties and challenges that come with learning it. There are also advantages and disadvantages, which makes giving the kids options very important. Instead of making just coding and programming compulsory subjects for kids, other tech courses should be made compulsory too so the kids can choose from them. Just like we had during our high school days, we had at least 4 trade subjects to choose from, and you got to choose whichever you felt was perfect for you.
