Intro
Yesterday, i wrote a post in which i talked pretty much about what Steem means to me and what benefits I extracted from it regardless of rewards I've earned while doing it.
Although i do agree that rewards makes journey a bit more juicy in comparison to other platforms, i would have to disagree if one wants to argue how rewards are the only thing that is relevant.
I guess the root problem is the way we approach people when trying to get them on board. There is no point saying how they'll earn money for doing simple tasks because they won't - at least not at this moment.
Human psychology is weird and hard to crack, especially when the money (and Women) comes around. If our main selling point is only oriented towards explaining financial benefits without stimulating any other reason to stick around we are doomed. Thankfully I have given myself some time to learn about Steem and blockchain technology, otherwise, I would probably quit after a few days.
We obviously lack that social aspect where people interact not only for the financial profit but rather to stay connected. The world is a huge place and people are social animals seeking attention and acceptance. Humans need to feel relevant and eligible to participate in decision making, it makes them feel more involved.
I guess people simply doesn't get the idea of being an early adopter and witnessing how this place transforms over some period of time.
Honestly I've tried to bring people here but either they are to lazy to make their own research or they are simply to dumb to understand the value of decentralization. Neither one of my friends I tried to bring has touch with crypto in general - maybe that's the reason behind it but regardless of it i somehow feel frustrated how they became part of the system without knowing it.
After all the controversies that took place during last year (Cambridge analytics - Third party who directly interfered with democratic process - using our own personal data to target specific groups of people in order change their election preferences)they would still rather be part of something that benefits only few...
Well, fuck them.
EIP
Although the convergent linear rewards curve isn't the best solution, it is the best thing we have so far and in my opinion, it's better to have "curation competition" (where there will be curation trails trying to maximize profit from curation) than the one we had. This place is actually starting to look better and POB concept is taking its place as well - what more can one ask for? :)
Most of the time i was fucking obsessed with the CMC and prices which consequently resulted me not seeing a bigger picture. After getting rid of that burden i can think more clearly. Life is not only about reaching a goal, but rather enjoying the process, and we all tend to forget about it. All the efforts made by the community shows that we have the will and knowledge to make positive changes, and that's one of the most relevant thing investors should look at.
We had some issues and noone is trying to deny it. Even better, now we can say that we're not dead and are actually giving up some % of rewards just to keep the ball running...
Time Perspective
Just take a look at this place and compare it with an ecosystem at late 2017 when price skyrocketed. I almost can't find any similarities besides User interface... We have had so many projects, some failed to deliver some prospered even more, that's how the open market behaves and i don't see anything bad in it.
More and more projects are starting to realize the potential steem has and it was just matter of time when it'll happen. Although i wasn't directly involved in all the discussions community initiated, trust me i have read every article as well as all the comments in the section below...
As long as we have whales that are willing to curate actual valuable content this place won't be dead. The more whales accept such healthy game the more value will come floating in, it's just the way Universe work.
