Utility Issues

As i already stated I'm not a tech kind of guy , at least not in terms of the code itself, but i do have some insights on how other blockchains operate and handle their economy. Maybe the code itself isn't of such importance as the economy behind it. It's kinda obvious that steem is one of the greatest blockchains in technical terms out there, and has been ranked 4th ever since Chinese Ministry of Technology makes a yearly report, and yet, somehow, we can't reach the audience and/or investors needed for us to explode. Honestly, I blame the lack of vision for it.
Lack of Vision
Without a clear vision we won't be able to achieve the value we're looking for, and arguably it's the main reason that brought us here in the first place.
Should we focus on pleasing current investors, or maybe trying to match the interests of potential new ones?
Or maybe we should focus on bringing the masses here? But what do we actually have to offer? These are the questions that need to be dealt with, otherwise we will continue staying neutral and unrecognized.
Although EIP made this place look better than before i still don't think it's enough to make a general difference, at least not in terms of getting widely accepted. It is somehow sad and disappointing that we haven't managed to take advantage over centralized entities after all the controversies that took place during last year (Cambridge Analytics and direct interfering with the democratic process).
We should have played it way better than we had... But there is no time for bitching around, we have been doing that already, haha.
In my opinion we should reach some kind of informal consensus within the community on where we are heading. The reason I'm saying this is the fact that some goals we're trying to achieve are contradictory.
For fuck sake I'm part of STEEM for around 2 years and I'm uncertain about some rules here. How do you expect for a newcomer to understand how to behave when not even well established members have difficulties understanding it.
What Next
After we establish the grand Vision we can start brainstorming around those ideas. We can't keep sitting on the same boat all the time. I'm not saying that we haven't made any progress, but I'm afraid that progress made in the last 16 months is negligible.
Just a small digression, that's the main reason why i fucking don't like decentralization, humans are way to accustomed to the fact that one person or entity will make all the decisions for them. Don't see any benefits of decentralization if one doesn't participate in decision making.
Moving on, i would like giving few examples of how having a vision might help us.
For instance if we decided that mass adoption is Numero Uno goal to reach we can readjust and align ideas with that vision.
Having a decent and user friendly mobile app would be the ultimate task since not having one these days is ridiculous. I mean, pioneering new technology at the same time and not having a mobile app is kinda pathetic, don't you think? Partiko is good but to much intrusive imho.
Further more we could try making post discovery a bit easier. I wouldn't complain if there were more tags and better ways of finding content you actually like reading, unlike now where i have to scroll down and search for it like a hungry hyena.
On the other hand if we reach a consensus and classify bringing on the investors as a top priority, the ideas around that specific vision would be quite different. We wouldn't be focused so much on content discovery but rather on something like Burning tokens (which i don't consider as a long run solution) or maybe reducing inflation rate up to some percentage.
I just think that such a discussions should be held every once in a while.
This is just me thinking out loud and i wanted to keep it as short as possible, otherwise i might lose the main point i was trying to make.
Hopefully we will start acting as a community rather than a collective individuals.
