I'm not referring to the preferred mode of transport for witches, but a shrub often found on the heath: the broom (Cytisus scoparius), brem in Dutch.
Outside of the UK, it is often called Scotch broom; it is known as English broom in Australia (not: "Bruce").

Brooms used to be made from its twigs, so maybe they have served as transport for doulas and witches after all. I advise using the far more rare and expensive ivy staffs, and can supply you with a catalog if you need one.
