CryptoCurrency Tip #3 - Desktop Wallet Tutorial: How to send/receive
As said in our previous post "Desktop wallets are one of the best ways to hold cryptocurrency since the user has control over their assets and not on an exchange where you are to succumb to wallet repair or withdrawal delays because the exchange is suffering from too much traffic." Q&A
What is a desktop wallet used for?: A desktop wallet is used to view your cryptocurrency on the blockchain visually through an application
What makes a desktop wallet better than an online one?: On a desktop wallet the private key is only used on your machine, and not through browser. This is good because ta desktop wallet does not store your private keys on a server which could be hacked. With a desktop wallet you will not have to go online as much due to the fact that this wallet is hardware based.
Usage
To start, let's open your Dash desktop wallet. (This is continued from before, please go to previous post on Dash wallet installation if you have not already.) You next want to click on Receive in the top menu
Next, if you want to receive dash, type in your label (helps you remember in the future where the funds came from), amount, and message (optional). Then you click Request payment
You should see in the Requested payments history your request.
Double click on your Requested payment and your public address will appear. You can send this to the payer.
Now click on the Send tab in the Dash wallet. This is how you will send Dash. First enter the address of the payee and the Dash wallet should autopopulate the label for you. Secondly, put in the amount of Dash you wish to send.
