After I had so much fun doing the last oil painting sketch, I wanted to take that further. So when I was on vacation a couple of weeks ago I googled something along the lines of ‘10 most successful movie stars’, picked one of them: Will Smith, and started painting.
I used Procreate App on my iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil. The sensitivity and feel of that combo is really unbelievably close to sketching on paper. I have to say though that I am using a special ‘paper like’ screen protector to give that bit of resistance you feel e.g. with graphite on paper.
The first photo is the finished ‘oil’ painting, and the second one shows my Procreate screen. I had the thumb of the photo up in the corner on a separate layer, so oftentimes I actually turned it off from view.
