Am I too early or maybe too late to share Christmas songs? I don't know but I know that I want to spread a little bit of Christmas. And since we've still got two weeks to go till Christmas - this is going to be the first of two Christmas themed #ThreeTunesTuesday posts.

So let's start with an artist from England: Emmy the Great.
What? You don't know Emmy?! Truth be told I don't either. This song came up years ago when I was putting together a Christmas songs playlist and it stuck with me. The second vid below is pretty much the version that I heard first and loved. Funnily, it is no longer available to stream here in the US.
Through searching for it I found that there are many versions of the song, after all, it is a cover by Emmy the Great of a song by John Prine, who I don't know at all because I don't like Country music 99.9 % of the time yet Emmy's version got to me.
The first one is a minimalist (almost) acoustic live version - a bit different.
My US artist today is: Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder
Here's another live version of a Christmas(sy) song you don't hear too often. I'm sure there are studio versions of the song that sound tons better but there's just something about live versions... There's no preview of the vid because - whatever - but please click on it and check it out on YouTube, or find it on your favorite music streaming service.
Speaking of - if you like Pearl Jam (hubby hates me for it), have you seen their version of J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers' song 'Last Kiss'? There is a video on Youtube (in horrible quality) of yet another acoustic live version performed at the Bridge School in 1999 - I love it! I'm not going share the link though because the Video unavailable on this blog looks awful, music's still great through.

What would be a Christmas songs list without Fairytale of New York? Searching for it today I read that it is a bit controversial these days because of 'some slur'? Remember it was released in 1987 (35 years ago!!!). I love the song, so I'm sharing it. Listen to it or don't, up to you.
