Today's #worldbuilding and #mapmaking post for the #junesjourney2020 prompt was an interesting one for me. "Hidden waterfalls" - How exactly does one incorporate hidden waterfalls on a map?
So, what I settled on was a huge earth fissure! Deep in the gigantic crack named The Scar echoes the thundering crash of unseen waterfalls - but now and then, other sounds emanate from the fissure; horrifying bestial roars, and strangely alien and tribal chanting...
Deep below the surface of our little island lies a separate world, and the Scar is one way to reach it, for those bold enough to leave the sun and wind far behind.
Gigantic worms, strange humanoid lizardmen, and horrifying burrowing beasts call this underground home, and the few people brave enough to venture into the depths of the Scar and return bring with them tales of beauty and horror in equal measure. Some can't shake the spell of the underworld, while others want nothing more than to leave the memories of the deep recesses of the earth forever behind them...
Which, dear reader, are you?
