My journey back home has been a talk in my temporal domicile. It just seems that a lot of their expectation of my leave sparks some transparent oversight. Instead of them asking of why and the reason of sudden change of mind, they just turned blind eyes towards that and started asking of things that are quite irrelevant.....things like..... Can I have your bed, is this ceiling fan yours, when is the exact day you would be leaving....all love lost.
I don't and can't blame them. Their perspective towards my possession is quite understandable.... This is a society we all leave in. So after all the goodbyes and sarcastic tears and hooking of hands in final farewell, I engaged myself in the journey of God's know maybe hours or days to Delta State depending on the right mind frame of the convener (driver).
The journey back home seem talked on for days in my mind. Got a good haircut... My three luggage was charged for a thousand naira while my fare stands on a non-negotiable price of three thousand naira. I, out of my indulgence preservation as a student of the Great Oba Awon university....I stood my ground and at the end I didn't pay for the bags.....Gush, I m sharp....a representation of the South-South .....a breding part of Niger Delta militant...
As the travel went smoothly, I slept off for a couple of hours...I was enjoying the cool breeze and the stereo of our 9ja music in my sleep but all of a sudden my eyes opened for no reason. The vehicle was at a revise. Our journey is now backward to ife, Osun state instead of ife to Delta.....(Nigeria). Out of the curiosity of my timid mind, I asked the sluggish fellow on my side:
Hey guy, wetin dey happened, why we dey go back?.
'No mind the driver, one bag dey lost', he said reluctantly .
My mind explode in contemplation ad I watched most of the passengers faces in silence. The road backwards only lasted for five minutes, then afterwards we were told to come out and examine our luggage .... Every one did and after each search ,they all ended up in smile....as it came to mine, the devil was really thankful. One of my luggage is out there missing.....
Although the driver made a call to his fellow mate....this conviction did not really stink into me. My mind started this judgement . Boy, you have to speak out....this is Africa....silence can never outshine action.....this thought sprint through me as we make our way to Ore....a town close to Benin and a hundred kilometer from Ondo state.
As we all enlighten from the tight mini bus that looked like kirikiri prison, my intension to cause a havoc amidst this stop over was on a speedy progress. As they went to refresh their taste and embellish their stomach , my legs and head stood para drastic under the hot sun. My prayer was this......my anger should know no bounds .... I have to let this driver and his stupid childlessness knows that I m not a play over fellow.
As God would have it, they were all set to continue this sluggish journey, I engage them in a hot franca that shock and took them into disarray .
Give me my fare back', I thundered... Me no wan go again....imagine this useless driver ...he is even unconcerned about my missing luggage instead he keeps playing music and laughing about this while driving....as hot as I was, I scuppered down from the car.... The driver was shocked....his head stood motionless as he watched me do this in slow motion.
I continued this prologue . Inside this particular luggage ....there I kept my important document...my certificate and best cloths( this last one was a fat lie....the jeans in this missing luggage are not particularly new and they are disgusting dirty...but to install more fear I proceeded by saying they are my best outfit...) Embarking in this far journey as really install some laziness on me.my intentions were , when I get home , I would probably wash them....
To cut the chase, this really worked. My intense action really caused a panic. At the end I was begged to come in with the assurance of a proper surveillance towards my possession.....
Lesson learnt.....never keep silent in a black community....this has never took anyone anywhere..... Speak out in protest and not in violence.
True life experience ......this just happened yesterday...Sunday to be precise....may.....2018.
