Up in her tower, the princess gazed each night
Upon the moon's pale face half-veiled by clouds,
Waiting and watching through the lonely hours
For her prince to come and end her locked seclusion.
But as the lunar cycles waxed and waned,
Still she kept steadfast guard from her high bower,
Believing that love would find a way to save
Her imprisoned heart from wasting all its flower.
Perhaps he was battling dragons on some quest,
Or trapped himself behind thorns too thick to sever.
Yet her faith remained—she'd wait forever, blessed
In the hope that one day they'd be together.
