Recently, on a short business trip, I passed through the resort town of Yaremche, located in the middle of the Carpathian Mountains, Ukraine. Since I had been on the road for about two hours, I wanted to stop and stretch out a bit. I knew very well that there was a small zoo here, because I had visited it once with my family. Currently, zoos in Ukraine are going through difficult times, because there is a war in the country and almost no one visits them.

I bought a ticket and entered the zoo. Compared to my previous visit, almost nothing has changed here. This means that the zoo lacks funds for development. But it also means that things aren't so bad that you need to get rid of the animals.

I met already familiar deer, wild boar, pheasant, birds of prey, waterfowl. The zoo mainly has representatives of the local Carpathian fauna. You definitely won't find an elephant or a kangaroo here. In my opinion, this is the right decision. People who come to Yaremche go on vacation to the Carpathian Mountains. There is a high probability of encountering some animals when you climb the mountain. But not always. And here you can get acquainted with the animal world of the Carpathians easily and to your heart's content.

Still, I noticed a little development. In some places, viewing platforms have appeared near the animal enclosures. I climbed one of them. Here you can observe the animals and you will not be disturbed by the fence.

The only thing that has changed a lot is the lack of visitors. I haven't met any.

But it is pleasing that the animals look good, they are fed and healthy.
