Ramiro, como de costumbre, llegó temprano para abrir la gran tienda por departamento de juguetes, tenía un gran compromiso, pues su jefe, tuvo que trasladarse a otro país para asistir una convención anual. El dueño lo dejó a cargo de la empresa, pues se había ganado esa confianza al demostrar honestidad, responsabilidad y profesionalismo. Había mucha demanda de regalos para llevar a los niños la noche de Navidad.

Llevaba 30 años como encargado del mantenimiento y buen funcionamiento de la tienda. Nunca había faltado, aunque estuviese enfermo. Amaba su trabajo, pues lo alejaba de los problemas familiares. Estaba casado con Mireya y de esa unión nacieron Trino, quien tiene 13 años, y Marina, de 18. Su matrimonio es funcional, armonioso y bien llevado por ambos, aunque su hija mayor, siempre fue rebelde, han podido manejarse bien con sus hijos.

Al llegar a su oficina, notó que habían violentado su escritorio, le faltaba un libro importantísimo de la empresa. No solo eso, sino que hurtaron objetos de su pertenencia muy valiosos para él, entre ellos unas fotografías y correspondencia personal. Al parecer, quien ingresó al lugar, tenía una llave, puesto que estaba cerrada la única entrada y salida del negocio. Además, se evidenciaron signos de violencia, solamente en su oficina. De inmediato y sin dudar, llamó a las autoridades para que se hicieran cargo del caso.

La policía llegó rápidamente y comenzó a investigar el robo. Ramiro les mostró las señales de violencia en su escritorio y les contó que faltaba un libro importante de la empresa, y el resto de elementos ya mencionados. Los detectives tomaron nota de todo y comenzaron a buscar pistas en la tienda, no sin antes haber interrogado a Ramiro, pues era el primer sospechoso.

Mientras tanto, Ramiro, consternado y apenado por lo sucedido, se sentó en un sillón casualmente el que usaban para las fotos de los niños con Santa Claus, tratando de calmarse. Se preguntó una y otra vez… Quién podría haber cometido el robo y por qué. ¿Sería alguien que trabajaba en la tienda? ¿O tal vez un ladrón que había conseguido una llave? ¿Pero por qué solo se llevó el libro de cuentas, y sus objetos personales?
Al no obtener respuestas a sus preguntas reflexivas, optó por apelar a su memoria.

Recordó una discusión con uno de sus empleados, debido al descuido en cuanto a la decoración de los aparadores. Julián, tenía tres años atendiendo a los clientes, y supervisando a los vendedores por departamento, lo cual no es una tarea fácil. Pero este, finalmente, aceptó las sugerencias y se dedicó a conversar con los encargados para mantener organizada, decorada la tienda y complacer a la clientela. Sobre todo dirigirla para atraer a los niños, en esta época de navidad.
Igualmente, le había llamado la atención a Carlos, quien era el encargado de mantener la limpieza dentro de la tienda. Porque algunos clientes habían manifestado, cierto descuido al respecto. Carlos era un joven recién casado, tenía apenas tenía un año en la empresa. Además, culminaba su carrera de contador, en un instituto universitario, por las noches. También le inspiraba confianza, el modo en que manejaba su situación, como lo es; sostener su hogar, trabajar todo el día, y estudiar por las noches. Carlos, al igual que Julián, asumió su responsabilidad y se esforzó aún más, para no correr el riesgo de perder el empleo.

Ramiro, pensó que eso no lo llevaría a nada, ya que en un trabajo todo el tiempo se están dando directrices a los empleados, para mejorar cada día el negocio. Pero le quedó el temor o la duda de que alguien por alguna razón estuviera resentido con él y decidió robarle para vengarse. Entonces, le mencionó al detective a cargo, sobre este, y otros casos.

El detective, a su vez, señaló que ya tenían algunas pistas; sin embargo, aún faltaba concretar detalles, para ello, interrogaron a todos los empleados uno a uno. Por cierto, le llamó la atención que el joven Carlos, encontrase en una de las vitrinas un sobre sellado, cuyo destinatario era el dueño de la tienda, quien estaba en ese instante muy lejos para poder conocer el contenido.

Tendrían que esperar su regreso, pues ni la policía podría abrirlo. Lo curioso de todo esto, es que en el sobre, no había remitente alguno. Ante esta situación, continuaron las experticias, pues también en la oficina de Julián, había otro sobre similar. El asunto, estaba tomando otro cariz. Cosa que complicaba aún más la situación, dado que solo se había desaparecido el libro de cuentas de la empresa en cuestión.
Finalmente, después de una semana, la policía detuvo al sospechoso. Pero antes, se reunieron con Ramiro en su oficina, para hacerle entrega del libro y de sus otros documentos. Así como darle a conocer la identidad del detenido, pues sabían que no le iba a caer nada bien.
Se trataba de Marina, ella había visitado a su padre a la oficina, en varias oportunidades, como lo haría cualquier hijo. Con la diferencia de que la intención de ella era robar la llave donde se guardaba ese libro tan valioso y hacerlo desaparecer. También se robó las cartas personales que él guardaba con celo en la gaveta del escritorio, suponía que su padre escondía algún secreto. No entendía por qué, él no la consintió como a su hermano
menor. Se creía menospreciada por su padre.

Marina, siempre tuvo un comportamiento irregular tanto en casa, como en los lugares que frecuentaba. Consecuencia de los celos hacia su hermano. Cuando era niña, escuchó a sus padres discutir porque él le manifestó a su esposa que le hubiera gustado que Marina fuese varón. Esas palabras continuaron resonando en sus oídos a través del tiempo. Este hecho fue el que la convirtió en una niña resentida con su padre. Allí no hubo explicación ni excusas de parte del padre, pues la pareja nunca se enteró de que la niña había escuchado esa discusión.
Lo que no escuchó ella, fue la disculpa que pidió Ramiro a su esposa en ese momento, por haber pensado siquiera en esa posibilidad. Él amaba a su niña, era especial para él y sufría mucho por su manera de ser y de rechazarlo. Ella nunca le reclamó nada a ninguno de sus padres. Por otra parte, la idea al cometer el robo era que lo despidieran por haber perdido ese libro, además las cartas encontradas iban dirigidas al dueño de la tienda, haciéndole saber que algo extraño estaba sucediendo en su negocio mientras él estaba fuera. La carta fue escrita de puño y letra por la misma Marina.

La reacción de Ramiro no se hizo esperar, le dijo a las autoridades que él había cometido el robo, para impedir que su hija fuera a la cárcel. En ese momento se apareció el dueño de la empresa. Ya le habían puesto al tanto de la situación. Se quedó a solas con Ramiro y le dijo que debía aceptar la situación y que su hija debía pagar por lo que había hecho. No lo iba a despedir, pero tendría una sanción por los daños ocasionados a la empresa, ya que estuvo cerrada durante una semana, sin producir nada. Los negocios son así.

Eran las fiestas de Navidad, la tienda estaba en sus manos nuevamente, no podía faltar
Ramiro siguió trabajando en la tienda de juguetes, haciendo felices a los niños, con la misma pasión y dedicación de siempre. Sabía que era su responsabilidad cuidarla y mantenerla en producción. Su familia quedó desconsolada por lo sucedido.

Sin embargo, se preparaban para recibir al Niño Dios, como todos los años. Ya dispuesta la mesa para la cena de Noche Buena, tocan a la puerta. Eran Julián, Carlos y el jefe de Ramiro, quienes llegaron con regalos para toda la familia, Ramiro, sorprendido, les agradeció el hermoso gesto de Navidad, pero el regalo de Marina se los regresó, porque tiene prohibidas las visitas. Entonces su jefe y amigo le dice que Marina lo estaba esperando afuera, pues él había retirado los cargos contra ella.

No había terminado de explicar lo sucedido y salió llorando a abrazar a su hija. Ella, temerosa, le retira el abrazo y se arrodilla ante él pidiéndole perdón por lo que le había hecho. Su madre, le contó lo mucho que él se había arrepentido de haber dicho esas palabras, pues Marina se sinceró con ella, logrando así, liberar ese peso tan grande que había en su corazón. Ramiro la invitó a pasar. Así como en un cuento de hadas, la Navidad se celebró con la unión de la familia, el reencuentro y la amistad.

Not only that, but some of his very valuable belongings were stolen, including photographs and personal correspondence. Apparently, whoever entered the place had a key, since the only entrance and exit to the business was locked. In addition, signs of violence were evident only in his office. Immediately and without hesitation, he called the authorities to take charge of the case.

The police arrived quickly and began investigating the robbery. Ramiro showed them the signs of violence on his desk and told them that an important company book was missing, as well as the other items already mentioned. The detectives took note of everything and began to search the store for clues, but not before questioning Ramiro, as he was the first possible suspect.

Meanwhile, Ramiro, dismayed and saddened by what had happened, sat in an armchair, coincidentally the one used for the photos of the children with Santa Claus, trying to calm down. He asked himself over and over again... Who could have committed the robbery and why. Could it be someone who worked in the store? Or maybe a thief who had gotten a key? But why did he only take the account book, and his personal items?
Getting no answers to her thoughtful questions, she opted to appeal to her memory.

He recalled an argument with one of his employees, due to carelessness in decorating the sideboards. Julian had been serving customers for three years, and supervising the salespeople by department, which is not an easy task. But he finally accepted the suggestions, and he dedicated himself to talking with the managers to keep the store organized, decorated and pleasing the clientele. Especially to direct it to attract children, in this Christmas season.
She had also called the attention of Carlos, who was in charge of maintaining cleanliness inside the store. Because some customers had expressed a certain carelessness in this regard. Carlos was a recently married young man, he had only been with the company for a year. In addition, he was finishing his accounting degree at a university institute in the evenings. He also inspired confidence in the way he handled his situation, such as supporting his home, working all day, and studying at night. Carlos, like Julián, assumed his responsibility and worked even harder so as not to run the risk of losing his job.

Ramiro thought that this would not lead him to anything, since in a job, employees are given guidelines all the time to improve the business every day. But he was left with the fear or doubt that someone for some reason resented him and decided to rob him to get revenge. So, he mentioned to the detective in charge, about this, and other cases.
The detective, in turn, pointed out that they already had some clues; however, they still needed to specify details, so they questioned all the employees one by one. By the way, it caught his attention that young Carlos found a sealed envelope in one of the display cases, addressed to the owner of the store, who was at that moment too far away to know the contents.

They would have to wait for his return, because not even the police could open it. The curious thing is that there was no return address on the envelope. In view of this situation, the investigations continued, as there was another similar envelope in Julian's office. The matter was taking another turn. This complicated the situation even more, since only the account book of the company in question had disappeared.
Finally, after a week, the police arrested the suspect. But first, they met with Ramiro in his office to hand over the ledger and his other documents. They also told him the identity of the detainee, as they knew he would not like him at all.
It was Marina, she had visited her father in his office on several occasions, as any son would do. The difference was that her intention was to steal the key where the valuable book was kept and make it disappear. She also stole the personal letters that he zealously kept in the desk drawer, she supposed that her father was hiding some secret. She didn't understand why, he didn't spoil her like his younger brother.

On the other hand, the idea in committing the theft was to get him fired for losing that book, plus the letters found were addressed to the owner of the store, letting him know that something strange was going on in his business while he was away. The letter was in Marina's own handwriting.

Ramiro's reaction was immediate, he told the authorities that he had committed the robbery to prevent his daughter from going to jail. At that moment the owner of the company appeared. He had already been informed of the situation. He was left alone with Ramiro and told him that he had to accept the situation and that his daughter should pay for what she had done. He was not going to fire him, but he would have to pay a penalty for the damages caused to the company, since it was closed for a week, without producing anything. Business is like that.

It was the Christmas holidays, the store was in his hands again, he could not miss it.
Ramiro continued working in the toy store, making children happy, with the same passion and dedication as always. He knew it was his responsibility to take care of it and keep it in production. His family was devastated by what had happened.

However, they were preparing to receive the Baby Jesus, as they did every year. Once the table was set for Christmas Eve dinner, there was a knock at the door. They were Julian, Carlos and Ramiro's boss, who arrived with gifts for the whole family. Ramiro, surprised, thanked them for the beautiful Christmas gesture, but Marina's gift was returned to him, because he was forbidden to visit. Then his boss and friend told him that Marina was waiting for him outside, because he had dropped the charges against her.

He had not finished explaining what had happened and came out crying to hug his daughter. She, fearful, withdrew her embrace and knelt before him, asking his forgiveness for what he had done to her. Her mother told her how much he had regretted having said those words, since Marina had come clean with her, thus releasing the heavy weight in her heart. Ramiro invited her in. Just like in a fairy tale, Christmas was celebrated with family togetherness, reunion and friendship.
