I don't know why but when one's stuff gets stolen (my tablet for example) and the person tries to move on (by forgetting about the whole incident) , the people around that person would make that person feel worse BIG TIME.
They'll say things like "if you had done this, your stuff wouldn't have gotten stolen", "if you had done that, your stuff wouldn't have been stolen". They wouldn't even think of how their words are making the person feel or how their words are affecting that person.
Little do they know that their words are not consoling at all. Those words would make the person feel worse. It also makes it hard for the person to move on. They keep on reminding that person that his or her stuff was stolen (something he or she is trying to forget). It makes the whole thing worse. It continues to recreate the whole incident in the person's head (mind).
Here's something I would like to hear when my stuff gets stolen "it's a pity your stuff got stolen, I'm sure you'll want to forget about it so I wouldn't mention it again" and I would be like "THANK YOU! am glad you know how I feel". Whose with me? Since I would like to hear your own story, please use the comment box to tell us the unconsoling things that people told you when your stuff got stolen and of course the more consoling thing you would have loved to hear. Thank you.
