Continuing our streak of nostalgia for last-generation games, today I brought out my physical copy of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for the Xbox 360. And to be completely honest with you, back in 2013, the marketing alone convinced me to pick it up—all it took was showing off the absolute high-octane, action-on-steroids gameplay this title offered.

Being able to slice through virtually anything in your path—from a simple chair to a full-sized car—while heavy metal music roared in the background and fast-paced Quick Time Events lit up the screen, is something permanently burned into my memory. It remains one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had in my life, completely satisfying my craving for limitless action and easily outshining Hollywood spectacle in the process.

Opening up the case revealed the game disc showcasing both the cyborg ninja Raiden and the AI droid Blade Wolf. Inside, I found the classic instruction manual and, surprisingly, an old promotional flyer for Prey 2. But the detail that blew my mind—something I hadn't noticed in the last 13 years—was an extra booklet containing a discount code for official Metal Gear merch, ranging from gaming headsets to a themed Risk board game! Haha. They clearly had incredible marketing ideas for this launch. Looking through all this actually made me want to fire up the console again and share some gameplay here on Hive Gaming. It was definitely a great trip down memory lane that brought back awesome memories.

Continuando con la nostalgia de juegos de generaciones pasadas, el día de hoy desempolvé mi copia física de Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance para la Xbox 360. Y les seré totalmente sincero: allá por el 2013, el marketing me convenció de comprarlo con solo mostrarme la acción sobrecargada de esteroides que este título ofrecía.

Poder cortar con la espada prácticamente todo lo que se te atravesara —desde una simple silla hasta un automóvil completo— mientras sonaban temas de metal pesado y se ejecutaban Quick Time Events súper acelerados, es algo que aún tengo grabado a fuego en mi memoria. Fue uno de los mejores títulos que he probado en mi vida y que definitivamente sació mi sed de acción sin límites, superando con creces cualquier espectáculo de Hollywood.

Al abrir el estuche me topé con el disco de juego, en el que lucen el androide Blade Wolf y el protagonista cyborg Raiden. Dentro venía el manual de instrucciones impreso y, curiosamente, una publicidad del cancelado Prey 2. Pero el detalle que jamás había notado en los últimos 13 años fue un folleto con un código de descuento para comprar mercancía oficial de la saga Metal Gear, ¡que incluía desde audífonos hasta un juego de mesa de Risk! Jajaja. Definitivamente tuvieron ideas de marketing geniales con este proyecto. Ver todo esto me dio ganas de volver a jugarlo y mostrarles algunas partidas por aquí en Hive Gaming. La verdad fue una entrega de nostalgia muy entretenida que me devolvió gratos recuerdos.
