Sabado Grande mi gente. Welcome to one more show above ground.
Tomorrow we are going to update the Summer Audio series and there will be a treat embedded in it for you.
No spoilers.
For those who care to interact. How are you doing? I can infer from the posts we get to scan, that these are some frustrating days. Days upon days upon days. What are you hearing about the future? What are you thinking about the future? Your future? Bleak? Is anybody talking about light at the end of the tunnel? Or are we just dancing in the dark for the foreseeable future?
Sometimes I kid about being a “geopolitical masochist”, because I listen to these analysts evaluate the state of the, “planet.” Their information is interesting, but their presentation is tough to consume. Like blackberries. Those seeds get stuck in your teeth or on your tongue. Some people don’t like the pulp in oranges, but will eat them for the vitamin C bennies.
We listen to these elders drone on, sometimes stammering and trembling through their monologues, and I’m thinking… “What am I getting out of this?”
Those who post daily, like your boy, sometimes don’t have anything new to report. Keep in mind, that’s what they’re doing. They are delivering information that most of their audience is too busy to dig up, translate & analyze for themselves. It’s at best second hand information, maybe even third-hand, but their perspective on the information, is tempered with experience.
What I’ve noticed about prolific writers, is that they are often troubled speakers, especially in conversation. Possibly, which is the case with your humble presenter, because they are trying to write and edit as they are speaking. A word will come to mind, but brain realizes that there’s a more precise word to use, but the first word is already on the tongue, mouth sputters, and you have the rhetorical equivalent of driving down a dirt road. Bumpy, uncomfortable speech, with a lot of grunts, and incomprehensible sounds between sentences.
The algos must be sensing that I am losing interest in the geopolitical situations in west Asia and eastern Europe, because the topics are not showing up in my feed as often. After listening to these cats for a couple of years already, there’s not much more they can say. They’ve laid out their narratives, many of them, regarding the outcomes of the respective wars, have been accurate thus far, and there’s not much more to say.
We can think of this trend like a storm coming. “The Storm,” is an often used motif. There’s a great deal of anticipation as to when the storm will hit, and how devastating it will be, how much it will cost and how many will die. Every scene is the same. There’s a very narrow pathway of speculation, because this is what the herd responds too. This is what motivates them to shop in the name of preparation for survival.
Nothing can stop what is coming. So stock up on toilet paper, gold, guns, ammo and dehydrated food. Think no further than Covid. This template can be laid across every crisis.
“Billions will die!”
It’s the anticipation that gets the most likes. Then the storm hits. Maybe there’s, (pun intended), blow-by-blow coverage of high winds, flash floods, infrastructure damage, property damage, reports of missing children… always children… have you noticed? or is it so common that we no longer take note? And then it’s over.
Clean up. Clean up. Everybody clean up. This is where interest drops off, so the media starts telling personal stories of loss. There are close-ups of family photographs in gold frames floating on the flood waters. Maybe a woman in a flannel shirt, tears streaming down her face will talk about family heirlooms. “I don’t know what I’m going to do. It’s a total loss.” There’s a gofundme link, because the insurance company is going to find a way not to pay. Sure, you paid a premium for flood insurance, but it wasn’t the flood that caused the damage, it was the rain, the wind, the mud, anything but what’s covered in the policy.
Your humble vagabond has a very strange, but not unique relationship with America. I’d don’t love her. I like her as a friend. I know she’s a liar. She doesn’t have my back. She steals. She bullies. She’s not a good provider. She ruins relationships, and when she gets bitch-slapped, she comes running for comfort, sympathy, and she will guilt-trip you if you dare to suggest that she brought this wrath upon her self. I can’t hate though, (because we don’t hate.) But the small doses that allow for tolerance get smaller by the day.
She’s not going to change. Her “personality,” (forged by The White Supremacy system), is so deeply embedded, she’s more likely to commit suicide than change her ways.
It’s a tragic situation and more and more Americans, residents, investors, immigrants and refugees are feeling the pain.
Here’s a story I told during one of these long walks.
The mountain people, the elites, live above the fray. The valley people, live in the valley, near the river. The river provides resources that the valley people extract, refine and provide for the mountain people. (Now that I think of it, this is the movie, Metropolis, 1927.)
Anyway, the valley people notice that the river is rising, moving faster and threatening production. They warn the “authorities” on the mountain, but are not believed. “It’s a trick. They want more money.” The mountain people covet their wealth. Gather it greedily and cling to it miserly.
Time goes by and there are fewer and fewer luxuries to be had on the hill. Rumors spread about the collapse of the valley civilization, and decreases in production.
“Fear mongering!” Dismiss the mountain people.
That is until, all of the valley people are gone. Dead or abandoned the scene.
The mountain people don’t make shit. Don’t do shit. Don’t know shit. And they eventually find themselves, in the shit. Their wealth is worthless because there’s nothing to trade it for.
So of course, they turn against each other. Their posh and sophistication, inevitably dissolves, and they return to a particular type of savagery that easy money borne of leisure and sloth guarantees.
This is 21st Century America. America’s Century of Shame and Humiliation. It probably won’t be as bad as China’s hundred years of occupation, exploitation, rape and massacres, but maybe. America is arguably already occupied, it’s creativity has been stifled, (stolen and suppressed patents), wealth extracted, mental capacity diminished, (dumbed down), reproductive strength interrupted and reduced to below replacement rate, military strength devastated, and the population thoroughly divided.
What do you suppose comes next?
What we have gleaned from the talking heads of cyber space, is that America, as a nation, has little if anything to fear, in terms of conquest & extraction of wealth, from China, Russia, or Iran. The threat to the country’s resources, is the same as it ever was. Britain. Keep this thought in mind as we jounce our way into the next decade.
