We live in a technological world today and there’s no denying that. We are all literally always on the internet doing our own thing. Most of us have our whole lives on the internet while others have chosen to make a career out of that as they have a fan base who love their content.
Social media has gone from the days when we just watch videos or other content and pass. Now, we have brands reaching out to influential creators to partner with them for brand deals and promotions. Now, content creation comes with a lot of benefits and that’s why most people are going into.
But then again, with everyone online being a content creator today, what makes you standout as a creator. The good thing is that , it works different for everyone. Some people have to build their brands from scratch and have to keep building it till they kingdom come. Then we have those who choose to play offense and they also manage to draw a lot of crowd as there’s no one that pulls people more than someone with audacity. Then we have those who blow up by mistake. Someone mistakenly posts that funny video they once recorded years ago by mistake and instantly it becomes and trend. That’s life for you, you never know what your breakthrough looks like.
It’s become a thing now for most people to hop onto weird trends created by individuals who want to blow up on social media. Recently, there’s been news of a Russia couple climbing a 443meters high building to hoist a flag and also propose. I don’t what was going on in their minds but let’s just say they’re adventurous people. But how adventurous can we get a humans and go what extent would we go just to get noticed.
I don’t mind people doing things for clout but some things are just way overboard. People will do risky things just to get on the news and it this point, the desperation is disgusting. I’m not trying to shade anyone but you can always do your thing without having to break the rules or putting your life and the lives and livelihoods of others at risk.
We’ve grown so crazy for attention we don’t know how to differentiate what is normal from what it means to do too much. I am almost always on social media and the things I see sometimes make we wonder what our endgame is as humans. It’s always something new, weird and extreme. Call it adrenaline rush or whatever you want but honestly, it’s just us doing too much.
To me, there’s no reward that can justify doing some of these things. You could literally lose your life by taking such risks. If you’re lucky and you don’t lose your life, you either go viral or not. It’s not really with it to me because you could equally use other channels to go viral. But then again, people will always want to try and outsmart the system. But you can’t please everyone on earth. Even if you hang yourself to go viral, there will be people who will criticize you. Just be you, and do your best. No need to go that far just to prove yourself to a bunch of people who don’t even care about you.
