Ah, how foolish of Lady Karen... just because a creature such as Kimi comes from the Celestial Realms, does NOT necessarily mean they're going to deal with you honestly. Seriously, the fact that Kimi demanded a bribe to give her directions to the treasure room should've been a big red flag for Lady Karen. But then again, while there has traditionally been many strict requirements for being a paladin, high intelligence is very notably NOT one of them. 😏
Even worse, her mistake was compounded by assuming just because Kimi is a familiar, that she's a lesser creature and one can just casually insult her without consequences. Said consequences being a manticore spine up the keister...
But MOST importantly, in focusing solely on getting to the treasure Lady Karen and her crew forgot Rule of Adventuring #6: "If to rest and recover hit points & spells you eschew, you're running the risk of becoming monster poo"! 💩
