Hello everyone,
I was supposed to meet my friend today, but it rained, so we canceled. But right now is a good time to see fall foliage in the Kansai region, especially Kyoto. Because of the bad weather, I couldn't decide if I should stay home or go out. Finally, I decided to go to Kyoto and visit Kiyomizu Temple.
Kiyomizu Temple is one of those places in Japan that you have to visit at least once. I have been there many times in the daytime but it was only my second time visiting at night.
I left Osaka and arrived in Kyoto about 4 p.m., and went shopping and sightseeing around the Kawaramachi area near the train station first. From there I continued on to Kiyomizu Temple. I decided to take the bus, because it is faster, but if you have time, I recommend walking, as it is a good way to take in the atmosphere of Kyoto. It is only about one kilometer. The temple is on a mountain. After getting off the bus, you have to walk about 10 or 15 minutes.
I was thankful for the rain today, because it kept the crowds away from the temple.
The highlight of this temple is the wooden balcony surround by maple trees. Now, most of the maple leaves are red, and you can see a magnificent panorama of them.
