Sometimes there are just so many things to talk about that you end up not talking about anything. The same thing with having great ideas, you talking about them but you never execute one.
What do I want to talk about really? Well for starters I am getting tired of doing the same thing everything. There is a thing they say about routines, how it keeps one in check, and distorting that pattern can cause a lot of tension. A lot of us have has to give up our daily activities to stay within the confines of our home.
I was texting my girlfriend the other day and talked about how she missed the stress--the hustle and bustle of Lagos. She misses sitting in traffic for hours; she misses her boss and her stressful job. Basically, she misses everything she dislikes but it's better than sitting at home doing nothing.
A lot of people are lost in this moment of crisis. Lost and consumed in the fear and uncertain. Most people just want their old life back irrespective of how shitty it might have been. Things weren't particularly great for me before the lockdown. Now it's quite worse. I don't even want to go into details but I would honestly love things to go back to the way it was some weeks back
Most of my friends think im happy with the fact that this whole crisis might last longer than most people expect because I am not wishing it away like the rest of them. Hope can be a great thing but not at the expense of logic. I'm currently dealing with this as my reality, not something that will magically go away. And it sucks really because I am getting fed up especially with the condition I am in.
I would like to see my girlfriend; I would like my open her saloon once again so im not burdened with the financial responsibility of catering for my family.
Things are getting intense here in Lagos. The number of cases are rising and I think we will begin to see numbers similar to that of other countries. We can't wish this away. This will be our reality for a very long time. The government is practically useless in this situation. People are at home hungry and frightened.
Maybe we should just gamble on the herd immunity of a thing. Let the virus run its course so everyone can go back to their normal lives in a couple of months. We certainly cannot manage high casualties but it's inevitable at this point. It's pointless locking people at home at this point. Most people have lost their jobs, many are running out of funds and supplies. We already have a high unemployment and poverty rate. The government can literally do nothing to salvage the situation, absolutely nothing.
Hoping for some light at the end of the tunnel. It isn't doomsday per se, at least not yet. I am actually curious as to how we would come out this, our lives after this pandemic. We all agree that a lot will change but are these changes going to be positive?
