Yesterday I stumbled upon a Twitter from a former coursemate of mine who is a crypto trader. He recently purchased a 2017 lexus Rx 350, which is around 20,000,000 naira ($35,000). I was so happy seeing someone I know make insane gains from trading crypto and NFTs.
Now the usual response from people in our sphere is that he is a fraudster disguised as a crypto trader but I felt motivated on the other hand and chose to believe what he claims to be. It strengthened my resolve to keep doing what I do here as a writer and crypto enthusiast.
I have had my fair share of major gains in the crypto sphere. Maybe not on the same scale as my former course mate but I have made some significant gains in this space that has bettered my life from airdrops to major stake holdings doing x10. These things aren't far-fetched in the crypto world. If there is anything that could make you an overnight millionaire it is certainly crypto.
The fear of the unknown
There is always this fear attached to crypto, even I suffered from it as well. It has to do with seeing crypto as something trivial--a hype or phase that would soon pass. Nobody takes me reasons when I tell them I am a content creator on a decentralized network called a hive. I have made gains that would take some people decades to get through the corporate world in this part of the world.
By default, many people in my community view me as a fraudster. So I have learnt not to judge people in the same manner because I know what's obtainable in this space. People have made life-changing money and I am on that path as well.
I have plans to start a rideshare business in the next two months to supplement my income and grow my crypto holding a lot faster. However, I still strongly believe in crypto and its prospects. There is a lot I can still do in this space that can bring the type of value I want to generate. There is no need to get involved in so many things and become distracted, missing opportunities when they present themselves.
I don't dream of buying a $35,000 car, but I do hope to see my portfolio reach $100,000 in the next decade. I am still a long way from reaching my goal and one of the things I am trying to do this year is to achieve at least 10% of my goal. It certainly would take a lot of sacrifices but I am willing to make them in the short run.
Asides from finances, crypto has changed my life positively. I still believe there are more opportunities to scale. I do not doubt that I am in the right space. So to anyone reading this post, do not disregard this space. It is one thing you will regret. Stay focused and in due time you will reap the fruit of your labour.
