So, in November 2019 I started getting active again on that other blockchain, this is pre-tron drama. At that time I had 0.23452 BTC in my hardware wallet. This is my play money, my "investing" money. A number of years ago this would be my online poker bankroll. Investing in crypto is like investing in NL Hold'em.
Anyway, when I decided it was time to really get involved, the recent new steem seemed to be a cleaner and more interesting community, I wanted to power up.
So that's what I did
That's STEEM not HIVE, but anyway
Then there was tron
Then there was the #steemhostiletakover that resulted in a hardfork and #hive. This is where my investment in STEEM has really paid off.
When the #witness stalemate started I decided that this wasn't going to be directly won at #steem, the ninja mine was too hot, so I started a powerdown. I saw it going a couple of ways
- Tron takes over with a strong hold somehow, probably winning over the farmers even more. That would result in me cashing out, hence the power down.
- A hardfork, there were already hints, and if there was a hardfork I would likely move with the community, hence powerdown at steem.
Since the hardfork I have been powering down from both STEEM and HIVE. HIVE is still too new for me to be fully vested, I will probably keep about 5k vested, but the rest I want liquid.
This is where I get to the good/great news. With many weeks of power down left I am already 35% in the green on my fall investment in STEEM (the community really).
I will continue the STEEM powerdown until there is nothing left. The horrible actions that they have taken towards the whales that supported HIVE will only help keep the price stable for me to get out. There is less dumping of STEEM, which I'm assuming was the entire point of the freezing.
STEEM is a dying chain without the developers. Market manipulation can only take you so far.
