Today I had a lot to do, but I was also lucky enough to visit Pistoia's city center again, and most importantly, to find the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Corte open and free to enter, a rare sight! I've often talked to you about Pistoia because, besides being my hometown, it's also one of the prettiest small towns in Tuscany. Indeed, this morning there were many tourists. One of the most popular tourist spots is Piazza Duomo, the city's main square, with the Palazzo Comunale, the courthouse, the bell tower (which I've occasionally managed to visit at night, offering magnificent views of the city), and of course the Baptistery and the Duomo cathedral. In addition to the square itself, today I also took time to photograph the corners and buildings surrounding the square, which I find beautiful. There are corners of this city that are truly unique, the center is entirely of medieval origin, not by chance Pistoia was also enclosed within a wall, a typical medieval urban feature.

We then went towards the baptistery, and seeing it open and free, I took the opportunity to immediately go in and visit it because, although I had often been to Pistoia before, I don't remember ever seeing it from the inside. The baptistery, like many buildings in the city, is made of polychrome marble. In fact, Pistoia is called the city of churches and zebra-striped buildings. It dates back to the 14th century and is in Gothic style. Its architecture combines various Tuscan styles. It has a very particular door with studs that is not typical of the area. Inside, you can see the finely crafted baptismal font, which is truly beautiful, and also the simple octagonal dome that closes the baptistery.
You can also see an altar and some sculptures and panels by local artists. It was truly wonderful to be able to visit the interior of the baptistery. To finish my tour of the square, I stopped to look at a large, egg-like sculpture, truly beautiful and unique. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any information about it, not even online. Pistoia is truly a city of rich beauty, and every time I visit, I'm enchanted. Even today, I was lost, my nose in the air, gazing at all that beauty and history.
Llegamos a la plaza tras pasear por las calles circundantes, que, como pueden ver, están llenas de hermosos edificios históricos, algunos decorados con antiguos bajorrelieves. Nos dirigimos entonces al baptisterio, y al verlo abierto y gratuito, aproveché para entrar enseguida a visitarlo, ya que, aunque había estado en Pistoia con frecuencia, no recuerdo haberlo visto nunca por dentro.
