As you can see from the photos, I was already sweating by morning, yet I set about cooking, cleaning, mopping, sweeping, and dusting. I was dead tired, but I had one consolation: rain was forecast for the evening—though, while waiting for it, it was just unbearably hot. On top of that, even though I’m hopeless with mechanics, I had to help my husband install the stereo in our new car. We had to buy an adapter and tinker with it a bit—well, he did the work, while I mostly just handed him the tools. We could have gone without a radio or phone charging cables, but we’re too used to having both; we love traveling with music and a charger, especially on day trips, since I take so many photos and the battery drains quickly. Anyway, we managed to get everything installed in half an hour, and my husband was really proud because we didn't have to pay a mechanic or auto electrician, and the stereo and charger work perfectly!

Como pueden ver en las fotos, ya estaba sudando desde la mañana, pero aun así me puse a cocinar, limpiar, fregar, barrer y quitar el polvo. Estaba rendida, pero tenía un consuelo: se pronosticaba lluvia para la tarde, aunque, mientras la esperaba, el calor era insoportable. Por si fuera poco, y a pesar de que no tengo ni idea de mecánica, tuve que ayudar a mi esposo a instalar el equipo de sonido en nuestro coche nuevo. Tuvimos que comprar un adaptador y hacer algunos ajustes; bueno, en realidad él hizo el trabajo, mientras yo me limitaba a pasarle las herramientas. Podríamos haber prescindido de la radio o de los cables para cargar el teléfono, pero estamos demasiado acostumbrados a tener ambas cosas; nos encanta viajar con música y cargador, sobre todo en excursiones de un día, ya que saco muchas fotos y la batería se agota rápido. En fin, logramos instalarlo todo en media hora y mi esposo estaba muy orgulloso, porque no tuvimos que pagarle a un mecánico ni a un electricista automotriz, ¡y tanto el equipo de sonido como el cargador funcionan a la perfección!
Later in the afternoon, I mustered the courage to go out for a walk and run some errands; I had to visit a few offices regarding the waste disposal tax—a real rip-off for a service that is truly laughable and inadequate. It’s a disgrace, but there’s no point arguing about it; that’s just how things are in this province, despite numerous protests. Fortunately, on my way back, I began to hear thunder and see lightning—much to my delight. I’m a bit afraid of lightning, though, so I hurried home. Once inside, I looked out to take photos of the beautiful, lightning-filled sky, and luckily, a proper thunderstorm rolled in with hail and heavy rain. It was a real treat—a shame it didn't last long, just enough to cool things down a little—but I was happy; I love the smell and sound of rain, especially in this sweltering heat. Más tarde, ya entrada la tarde, reuní el valor para salir a caminar y hacer algunas gestiones; tenía que visitar un par de oficinas por el tema de la tasa de recogida de basuras: un auténtico robo por un servicio que resulta verdaderamente lamentable e insuficiente. Es una vergüenza, pero no sirve de nada quejarse; así funcionan las cosas en esta provincia, a pesar de las numerosas protestas. Por suerte, de regreso, empecé a oír truenos y a ver relámpagos, algo que me encantó. Eso sí, les tengo un poco de miedo a los rayos, así que me apresuré a volver a casa. Una vez dentro, me asomé para fotografiar el hermoso cielo iluminado por los relámpagos y, afortunadamente, se desató una buena tormenta con granizo y lluvia intensa. Fue un verdadero placer —una lástima que durara tan poco, apenas lo justo para refrescar un poco el ambiente—, pero me sentí feliz; me encanta el olor y el sonido de la lluvia, sobre todo con este calor sofocante.
