It begins in the past with a group of women—friends since adolescence—who escape everything once a year to gather at a secret location. It’s a getaway to reminisce about the old days, let loose, and swap secrets and gossip. Among them is Matilda, a woman torn because she is pregnant and unsure what to do. The friends seem to be having a good time—despite some lingering old grudges—until blood begins to spill and a slaughter ensues, leaving the identity of the killer a complete mystery. Years later, Tessa—a true-crime podcaster with a traumatic past linked to her work—is invited to Blind Island, that same secret island where the women used to gather; it is a remote spot accessible only by small boats. Her friend Annelise is getting married and has decided to hold her bachelorette party on the island, where a new resort is opening. It promises to be a getaway filled with relaxation, yoga, healthy food, and nature walks—and, of course, cell phones and contact with the outside world are strictly forbidden.

Tessa is hesitant about the trip; she has mixed feelings compared to her friends, and it has been a long time since they last saw each other. Nevertheless, the girls begin their vacation. Everything seems almost perfect, save for a few minor tensions, and the bride-to-be is thrilled about everything—until one of them disappears, or rather, suddenly leaves, abandoning the group and leaving behind only a vague note. Tessa has a bad feeling and a sinister premonition, but no one listens to her; they dismiss her concerns, believing she is simply too obsessed with dark events due to her line of work. It is an excellent thriller that keeps you hooked until the very last page. Amidst dark secrets, old grudges, and present dangers, the bachelorette party transforms into an investigation and a desperate fight to escape the cursed island—or to flee from someone intent on killing the girls. A great book—a smooth, suspense-filled read that I highly recommend to thriller fans!
Tessa conoce bien la historia de la isla, ya que siente una fascinación morbosa por ella; además, las chicas que desaparecieron en el pasado —entre ellas Matilda, hermana de Irene, la dueña del complejo turístico— nunca fueron encontradas, ni vivas ni muertas. Tessa tiene dudas sobre el viaje; experimenta sentimientos encontrados a diferencia de sus amigas, y hace mucho tiempo que no se ven. No obstante, las chicas comienzan sus vacaciones. Todo parece casi perfecto, salvo por algunas tensiones menores, y la futura novia está entusiasmada con todo... hasta que una de ellas desaparece o, mejor dicho, se marcha repentinamente, abandonando al grupo y dejando tras de sí solo una nota vaga. Tessa tiene un mal presentimiento y una premonición siniestra, pero nadie la escucha; desestiman sus inquietudes, creyendo que simplemente está demasiado obsesionada con sucesos oscuros debido a su profesión. Es un thriller excelente que te mantiene enganchado hasta la última página. Entre secretos oscuros, viejos rencores y peligros presentes, la despedida de soltera se transforma en una investigación y en una lucha desesperada por escapar de la isla maldita, o por huir de alguien decidido a matar a las chicas. Un gran libro: una lectura fluida y llena de suspense que recomiendo encarecidamente a los amantes del thriller.
