One of the main reasons that I chose my coding bootcamp in particular is because of the interpersonal skills that they weave into our curriculum. To kick off the New Year, we did a pretty neat workshop today that focused on "Inner Resources." I would like to share my top 5 resources that I have journeyed with throughout life and 3 resources that I would like to work on in 2018 and beyond. Before we get into my details, let's discuss all things "Inner Resources" on a meta level.
What are "Inner Resources?"
"Your inner resource examples are creativity, intelligence, confidence, courage, or passion. Your outer resources are people, money, or technology. When used together—you can accomplish anything. It is important to realize there is a difference in the resourcefulness of you and the resourcefulness of a psychopath."
Why are "Inner Resources" important to my overall well-being?
"Everyone knows that high IQ is no guarantee of success, happiness, or virtue, but until Emotional Intelligence, we could only guess why. Daniel Goleman's brilliant report from the frontiers of psychology and neuroscience offers startling new insight into our "two minds"—the rational and the emotional—and how they together shape our destiny."
How do I find my "Inner resources?"
"First, naturally the better our knowledge of self is the easier it is to find ways to support us. For example it helps to know our values, strengths, weaknesses, goals and boundaries. It gives us power to learn to acknowledge our inner speech, our inner observer and our inner coach. As we become aware of those we start to notice our behaviour understanding that we can change unhelpful actions. Key is to really listen to ourselves what is going on and learn how we respond."
So, now that you have a little background info on "Inner Resources," here's the low down on mine!
