The Ring-necked parakeet is the UK's only naturalised parrot, A small flock of these birds can be found in the woods around Abington Park, Northampton. Here are a few photos I took around the park.

A Breeding Pair
Abandoned woodpecker hole used as a nesting site
The small flock of an estimated thirty birds are actively nesting and breeding at the park.
The Ring-necked Parakeet started to establish themselves in the wild during the 1970s when a number of captive birds escaped and were released. It's estimated by the RSPB that there are around 8'600 breeding pairs found mainly in the south of England. These parrots are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
