You can't size up someone's financial status in a single glance ...that's some kind of wrong judgment humans commonly make. And if there is one thing my dad taught me before he died, it is that I shouldn't look down on anyone, no matter how big or small the person appears, no matter how poor or ugly a person may be; just respect each human because it is what it's right.

This lesson from my dad, coupled with what the scriptures have been teaching me, has been a great combo to my lifestyle. It has helped me to stay guided while relating with humans irrespective of their status, giving everyone the respect they deserve.

A few days ago, during our women's meeting, I had a woman surprise me with a very nice gift, and she was like, "Sister Nkem, I have watched you among other women Excos treats all members with respect and fairness." Your manner of approach to people has been admirable; she kept on and on singing praises to me, complimenting me over compliments, and encouraging me to keep it up.

It happened that this woman is very wealthy with business here and there and with all her kids abroad, but due to the way she dresses—so simple and casual—you will never know she is so wealthy unless you go close to her. In her words, she has seen several times how Some excos herself, acts arrogantly, embarrassing fellow mothers, and denies them their food we usually share over sentiments and many other complaints, but she has watched me closely respect everyone no matter their position, including her.

She said the church does a lot of politics these days, sending sentiments, always focusing attention on rich people and overlooking some people they feel are low life; it is what it is.

Overall, I don't think looking down on people is fair regardless; it's not right, and beside, you don't know who is who. The woman didn't only gift me but also promised to surprise for me this Christmas. My ears are itching to know what the surprise could be.
