A new beginning for my first fruit is here. Lately, I have been thinking about whether this is the right time for me to explain to him the story behind his birth. I have experienced the most difficult aspect of parenting, but I have also tasted the fun part of parenting with my kids so far. I have also experienced that moment when I felt that there was no hope anymore and that I may lose this child. It's been ups and downs with this my first child, since I became pregnant with him, from one health issue to another type of complications. What kept me going was the love, care, encouragement, and support I was getting from family, friends, and loved ones.
Indeed, there are times when even your money cannot salvage a situation. Good people around us are everything; if not for their support on every side, I may have died even before my son, lol. But you know what? They came through for me. I grabbed their words of advice and encouragement, and it gave me the strength to withstand all that has been happening around my son. Since the last 15 months, I have experienced this kind of peace of mind about my him.
His name is Favor Chisom, and two days ago he came to me, hugged me, and said, "Mummy, do you know that my birthday is on the 23rd of April?" Wow. I smiled and nodded my head in agreement. Of course I know, my son; how can I forget your big day? I said to him, "Chisom, do you remember the last time you got admitted to the hospital?" He said it's been long, mummy; God has already healed me! Wow, I hugged him so tightly and said a simple prayer with him with tears in my eyes. I couldn't control my emotions. I have seen and experienced a lot of difficult times with his health since I conceived him. I remember telling this story in detail in one of my blogs. My family has been calling and thanking God that in the past year, they haven't received an emergency call about Chisom's health and how he is usually being rushed to the emergency department at the hospital. Every member of the family has been experiencing this kind of peace of mind, which has been lacking for years. We have been to at least 14 different hospitals in Lagos State, Nigeria, since he was born in search of solutions to his health challenge.
One of those days in the emergency unit
One of his visits to Ikeja for an EEG test prior to an MRI of the brain scan
One of our visit for check up,mum and chisom
Today is Chisom's 8th birthday, and I wish to celebrate him here and also encourage every parent who has been through one health issue or another with their child never to give up. I have been craving to see that moment when I will see my child healthy without all kinds of complications, and I have it now! God came through for him, and my husband and I didn't give up.
Experiencing 15 months with him without rushing him to the emergency unit in the hospital is something for which I am so grateful to God, and I hope that he remains healthy as he continues to grow and develop into an adult.
To my readers, I would appreciate your good wishes and a word of prayer for my son, Chisom.
I love and celebrate you, my child. All I ask is sound health of soul, mind, and body for you, and may God preserve you against negative emergencies and shield you with his glory. Happy birthday, my first fruit, Excel, my son!
Thanks for your time in my blog ❤️
