Yesterday came with unusual feelings for me. As I reflect on the tragedy that befalls a close friend of mine, a mom like me, I shed tears while I type, but my consolation to her and to everyone is that, once there's life, there is still hope for our survival, especially realizing the fact that your creator is still alive!

How sad it is to lose one's husband so early when the kids are still tender. The feeling is so devastating. I received shocking news yesterday about my friend's husband and how he suddenly slumped and died after returning home from his daily hustle.

With a heavy heart, I left for her home. On reaching there, there are people around her consoling her as she kept wailing and making some utterances. I was touched by her words. She said, Is it going to be easy to cope without you? And she mentioned the husband's name. She said again, How do I train these little kids all alone with almost nothing in our bank account? Why do you have to leave us so soon? And many other of her statements that got my heart so teary. Sadly, death doesn't take permission before coming, and it is also inevitable for you and me. The only thing we can pray for is that it shouldn't meet us so early in life.

According to the wife; my friend, the husband had no health issues prior to his sudden death. However, he has been dealing with financial pressures left and right following the present harsh economy in our country today. She said that most nights, the late husband worries a lot, calculating how to cope the next day, and she kept encouraging him to be calm while supporting the family with her little earnings from her own business as well. How he just died without complaining of any sickness was strange to her and to many people; however, some of us in her home yesterday felt it could be unchecked high blood pressure or any health issues that weren't noticed on time.

Whatever it is that was the cause of his sudden death remains unknown as no autopsy wasn't conducted; however, this remains a wake-up call to everyone to always check their health and be on medication if an illness is diagnosed to avoid careless death. I understand the economy hasn't been funny across our world today, but it's also important that we help ourselves too.

While we were still there consoling this friend of mine, a woman told her a personal experience. She said that she lost her own husband just 4 years after their marriage, with 3 children already and the last baby being one week old as of then. She narrated her journey so far—the ups and downs she faced and how people she expected to help her didn't ask about her way about with the children. Her story was long and so touching but also quite encouraging at the same time. Today, her first child is a graduate from the university. She embraced God, and He came through for her. My friend found a little hope listening to the woman's story, same as many of us present.

Rounding up, it's always devastating to lose a loved one or something so precious to us, but I have learned that there are some things we cannot control. What keeps me going is striving not to dwell on my saddest moments for a long time but accept the situation and move on because dwelling on what makes me sad may attract negative thoughts and make me feel worse. It's never easy to deal with this kind of feeling, but it's important to consider our mental health regardless of any situation we find ourselves in.
