It baffles me to see what some human beings do just to make money. I know that times are hard, but to the point of scamming people with your fake health condition just to extort money from your fellow colleagues? That's terrible, wicked, and inhumane.

The past three days have been hot in our WhatsApp group of the 2013 class. All my university classmates who graduated in that year came together via watsapp platform and did a lot of things in common so far . Our past reunion was a success because we have all been in a group sharing ideas and job vacancies.

Now ever since the group existed, we have contributed to wedding ceremonies of our classmates, condolence visits, child dedication of our mates, health support, and so on. All these were done joyfully and voluntarily, although we have a constitution to make it more structured.

So in as much as the whole contribution to each other is voluntary, you must be a financial member to benefit as well. And then it happened that one of us sent us a picture of her eye surgery and requested that we contribute money for her to pay the bill. Seeing the bandages covering her eyes and the claim that she lost vision in her second eyes with other complicated health challenges,m she claimed, we were all emotional and began a huge contribution immediately.

Somehow, our chief WhatsApp admin demanded more evidence from her due to something sensitive he noticed in the fake video the lady sent, but then she couldn't provide the evidence. Deeper investigation began to really know if she was scamming us or if she was real.

Unfortunately, all the information she gave us was a lie. We started receiving calls from her workplace and how she has been going around the whole place sending the same fake picture of her eye surgery, using it to collect money from people.

It's hard to believe that people can actually lie about their health and vision. What if, for real, she now loses one of her visions? Like seriously? All for money?

Now we are glad we haven't transferred the contributed money to
her before finding out the truth; now everyone who has paid will be refunded. We have removed her from our group and made strict rules going forward. One thing she doesn't know is that karma is real, and again, she has used her own hand to block possible future help from any of our classmates. We are truly disappointed. 🥲
