In my previous post, I wrote about some of the jobs I’ve been engaged in for the past 5 years of my life. They were quite a lot to contain in a post so I separated it into two. To follow up on the gist, you might want to start from my introduction post.
In continuation of my “jack of all trades” gist, I’ll start with FREELANCING.
I can’t state exactly when I started freelancing. It was just something I decided to try out after one of my continuous online researches. The services I offered online as a freelancer was writing, typing, transcription, email marketing and website design.
I registered on several platforms including upwork, fiverr, guru, truelancer, freelancer, 24task, workmarket. At those times, I was simply exploring. Looking for what works and dropping the ones that didn’t seem promising along the way. I still freelance on one or two of those platforms though but freelancing for me has always been a means to an end.
Second on my list is HOUSE CLEANING.
This was a job I never would have imagined myself doing but I did it! The need for survival was what led me into house cleaning. I started by asking house agents to refer me to their clients whenever they pay for a house and needed it cleaned before packing in.
I remember the first time I got a job to clean a house, I was so full of emotions. I got to the place, looked around and saw how messy everywhere was and how much work I needed to do for just a token! It drove me into self-pity and throughout the cleaning that day, I kept taking a break to get my emotional self together before I continue. I finished the work however and the client was satisfied. This was over 3 years ago when I was in my 3rd year in the university.
Today, I don’t see cleaning as a pitiful job anymore. It has helped me sort out my finances to an extent. I have several returning clients and also have about 5 people working with me as well. Great, isn’t?!
Furthermore, I learnt FASHION DESIGNING.
This was during the covid-19 lockdown between April to October 2020.
Fashion designing was always a hobby that I never really got the opportunity to learn due to other activities always popping up. During the covid lockdown, I planned to focus solely on my blog. However, an opportunity came up to learn fashion designing for free so I quickly took it!... who doesn’t like free things right?.. lol
I learnt to make simple dresses for both male and female. I made dress for my close friends and family. Imagine the smile on my dad’s face when he put on the complete native, I sew for him. It was all worth it! I have never owned a sewing machine though. The few clothing I made was with a friend’s machine. Hence, the reason I’m yet to take fashion designing further.

Lastly on my list is DIGITAL MARKETING AND NETWORK MARKETING.
Some times in august, just after my final exams, I joined an organization that teaches digital skills for free and also grooms one into registering and stepping up in a network marketing platform. Every day at the office was an opportunity to learn something new towards self-development and financial freedom. So far, it has been great! However, I took a break to travel for the Christmas holiday but I intend to resume back in January. Like I always say, anything regarding self-development and financial freedom, count me in!
