Well South Park has done it again, this time in an extraordinary episode called "Post COVID" the animated series shows us what the future will be like in 40 years from their point of view.
I would not have considered publishing on this topic, however a part of the chapter draws powerful attention around the world, Stan, the protagonist checks into a hotel and pays for his room with a card with a QR code. At the reception stands out a sign with orange BTC symbol with the word "Only".
In the conversation the employee tells Stan: "Now, of course, we only accept bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies because, you know, it's the future. We've all decided that centralized banking is rigged, so we rely on more makeshift Ponzi schemes." With that scene the creators of the series show the world the relevance of the main of cryptocurrencies and from their (somewhat twisted) vision BTC takes over from the hitherto undisputed US dollar.
I do not consider the creators of South Park as visionaries, nor as experts on this subject, but I feel that this is a way to prepare the world for an eventual massive adoption of cryptocurrencies with BTC at the forefront, considering something that is as evident as it is unobjectionable: the Fiat model is dying.
The dollar is nothing more than an oil addict, it depends a lot on the human capacity to extract, produce, export and consume the black hydrocarbon, however, we are in the presence of the decline of the oil industry, which in part has repercussions on the very existence of the American currency.
It is a reality, less and less oil is being produced, but not because of a shortage of this energy source, but because of a lack of resources for this industry. Oil companies no longer devote resources to the exploration of new deposits or to the construction of new refineries, while fracking is nothing more than a dollar-swallowing monster that does not cease to register losses.
Inflation is a monster that the American people did not know, at least since the 70's of the last century, now it has become unbearably common after the supposed end of the pandemic that we are experiencing a madness to consume again, but the problem is that nothing can be produced with the rhythm of past times, consequently the generalized increase of prices is the daily bread.
Inflation is the enemy of politicians, it keeps the votes away from the candidate in office, but the greatest ally of the latter is fear, and the latter gives the voters' preference and there is nothing better than a virus to foment generalized terror. So, with inflation running rampant, the Fed's refusal to raise interest rates and the impossibility of increasing oil production, the best thing that can happen to a government in crisis is a variant or a virus that forces us to lock ourselves back in our homes (and metaverses).
These strategies, more like hot rags than an economic program, are designed to give the dollar and the Fiat model extra time in the world, at the same time that the Davos Group has everything ready to introduce us to the world of centralized digital currencies. Evidently the digitalization of the Fiat world will not stop its dependence on the eternal issuance of money by the central banks, in the meantime BTC will continue to gain more followers in the world as people continue to assume it as a safe haven value.
a safe haven value, that is when it will become a means of payment as well, like the hotel scene in the animated series, that is when the main cryptocurrency will cease to have an equivalent value in USD to its expression in BTC.
