Sweat slowly trickled down my forehead. Thankfully, it was still early and an overcast day. It was my first climb. It was a minor climb as a local mountaineering blog rated it. See, I'm not a mountain person. I'm a beach bum. I don't really do mountains. You can ask me to walk for miles, not just ascend a mountain.
But let's not limit ourselves, right? So, when some group of friends asked me and Ducky (my girlfriend) to join them to go to Mt. Gulugod Baboy, we said yes. I wouldn't say that we jumped on it immediately. Ducky isn't also fond of mountains. But we love adventures and we love nature. Let's just say that a teeny-weeny bit of convincing happened.
The climb usually takes 1-2 hours. A lot of laughter, a lot of pictures and selfies taken, 5-minute breaks that became 10, we reached the peak in roughly two and a half hours. The view from the top was really amazing. I'd say breathtaking with all the catching of breaths that happened.
So, how was my first climb? It was totally fun! So, glad that we did it. After the descent, there was a nearby beach so we went for a swim which was really refreshing after the buckets of sweat that were lost. Would I do it again? For sure! It was nearly a year and we've been wanting to climb one of the highest mountains in the country but no solid plans as of yet. Hopefully, by February. One of the highest already for the second climb? Why not? Hahaha!
How about you, guys? How's your first climb? Do you still remember?
