Lots of things going on these days. Well, more than usual for me. Not enough, but maybe that will be changing soon.

Let's get it out of the way because I know y'all are dying to know about my latest cribbage games. Playing against Joey and Christian and Dan the past few days. Dan and I split games, 2 and 2. For Joey, I kicked his butt. I think it was 5 games to 1. I owed him for last week though when he did the same thing to me. Christian games, as usual, there were many of them. A total of 24 games (including 3 skunks, 2 by him, 1 by me). He won 13 so I won 11. It was unusual because he started out with 6 games to 1. Then he finally made it to 12 games to 6, but then the Cribbage Gods felt sorry for me and actually started giving me decent cards. I made it to the 11 games and lost the next game by 1 point. I need 7 points to win but couldn't peg more than 1 and only had 5 points in my hand. Oh well, I'll get him next time.

The new menu for Mango is coming out tomorrow. I have already tried one of the new items on the menu. It is called a Chicken Tower Burger (pictured). It has 2 slices of fried chicken patties, 1 square of hashbrowns, 2 slices of cheese, 2 slices of bacon, his mixed vegetables (shredded) and a special made sauce that is kind of like a slightly spicy thousand island. Of course, it comes with fries. I'm not listing any prices yet, but it was worth the money to me especially after I heard how much burgers and other sandwiches are going for in the US now.

I have contacted the main RAO (Retiree Activity Office) in Angeles City to see about renewing our RAO Satellite here. A friend started it a while back, but he no longer resides here. I asked about getting it restarted and any requirements that needed to be met. Plus, I wanted to know what sort of information would be passed down to us. Some information I already provide to the expats around here, but I can't know everything going on. I also wanted to know how far out from my home base (Calbayog City) am I allowed to try to get other retirees/expats to join. Actually, thinking about it, I'd be willing to travel a few times per year going to other areas around here to give out information. That sounds like a way for me to experience a few more things and get out of the house more often, besides just going to Mango or downtown. We'll see how that works out.

My niece (Juvic) visiting from Australia wants to take us all out to eat tomorrow. We're going to Marsal's Grill. They are not as good as they used to be, but they still have very good baby back ribs, which we always get. I told her that it's not as good as it used to be, and she asked me where a good place was. I told her not to ask me because I'm going to say Mango. I think not everyone here likes Mango and would prefer Marsal's Grill. We can do that except I need to find out what time because tomorrow is Expat Day and I've already ordered one of the new Chicken Tower Burgers.

Also, I need to find out what time because of my new diet. In addition to walking, I also only eat between noon and 6 pm. I believe that most of my problem for not losing weight (besides sitting on my butt all day) is because I was eating late at night. Now, at 6 pm, not eating, only drinking, and even then, it's mostly water. Water, coffee, tea, cranberry juice and a few Cokes per month is about all I drink anyway.

It's 10:30 pm now. I need to get to bed so I can get up around 5 am to go out for my walk. I really need to find out how far that is. From my house, down the highway to Pido St, down Pido St to Magsaysay Extension Road then back to my house going through the RFM. If I ever get to where I think I can walk further, I can always just keep walking past the RFM and go to the highway by the Toyota dealer then home. We'll see.

That's it for now. I hope it was in interesting read for everyone or at least didn't put you to sleep.

THE Texan in the Philippines.jpg

Howdy y’all. It’s me, ninong7 aka UJ aka John. Just a short intro about myself. I am a Texan that has retired in the Philippines. I moved to the Philippines with my wife back in May 2010. I am retired from the US Air Force. The music I like is mostly Classic Country and Classic Rock. I guess you could say that I am “Classic”. I play dominoes when I can find someone that will play, I play chess, cribbage, spades, hearts, Empire Builder, Rail Baron, Acquire and a few other games. I like to write poems and stories (although pretty novice) and I love learning about history, just about any history. I’m at home on my computer a lot but if I could afford to, I’d be traveling and documenting my travels to post in my blog. I hope to get to know a lot of you through PeakD and Discord.
