Echeverias start flowering at the end of winter and I am enjoying the diversity of flower shapes and forms, which range from star-shaped, like Echeveria elegans

... to the more tubular shapes

Some are rounder in form, I am not sure of the eact species of these Echeverias, because there are so many cultivars available

I wasn't trying to get all artsy, I used the spray bottle to get rid of the ants and aphids that tend to infest the flowers. I'm not sure whether watering more would actually help or whether Echeveria are just more susceptible to aphids in my climate.

This is a typical sight

I suppose I could spray all the plants with insecticide but I am not a fan of nuking the insect life just for the sake of the flowers and so I just leave them. Until I want to take pictures that is.
