In the number 11 of Wall Street, in the lower Manhattan of New York, is the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), sometimes known as the "Big Board". It is, by far, the largest stock exchange in the world. The market capitalization is around 20 trillion dollars, and the average trading value of 170 trillion dollars per day. The New York Stock Exchange is composed of no less than 21 rooms used to facilitate trade. Both the 11th Wall Street building and the main building have been designated national historical signs in 1978. It should be noted that the New York Stock Exchange has received several demands for breach of duty or fraud and was even sued by its former director general for breach of contract and defamation.
