Earlier this year, the Indian government made it compulsory to link your mobile number with Aadhaar card. For the majority of us, it was a pain going to the operator’s offline store to verify our identity and link the Aadhaar card to mobile number. But today onwards, telecom subscribers can do it by calling a single toll free number irrespective of their network reducing the hassle that we have to go through.This will also be helpful to NRIs who are not able to come to India . The last Date for linking your mobile number with Aadhaar card is March 31.
Now lets see how to complete the process.
You will need your mobile sim number you intend to verify with Aadhaar and the mobile number registered with the Aadhaar card.
Steps:
Dial the toll free number 14546 from the mobile number you want to verify.
Then you will be asked to select a language and confirm your nationality whether you are a resident or an NRI.
After that you will be asked the consent to use your Aadhaar details. Confirm it by pressing 1.
Now you will have to provide your 12 digit Aadhaar number and press 1.
After that, an OTP will be generated and sent to the Aadhaar registered mobile number.
Now you are requested to enter your mobile number.
By entering your number, you are giving your operator the consent to access your name, photo and date of birth from the UIDAI website.
After entering the number, the IVR will read out the last four digits of your mobile number. If it is correct, you can enter the OTP received to confirm your Aadhaar number and press 1.
(Most of the time, the OTP will take some time to reach your mobile number. Since the OTP has a 30-minute validity, you can redial the toll free number If the call gets terminated before you enter the OTP. Upon re-dialing you will be asked whether you have the OTP number. If you have received the number, you can press 1 and enter the OTP to confirm your number).
After that, press 1 to complete the process.
You can press 2 if you have another number you want to verify with your Aadhaar card.
