We had a lot of fun with these giant leaves of the Valdivian jungle in the north of Chilean Patagonia, one of the places with the most rainfall in the world, ancient trees and forests cover the mountains and volcanoes of the Andes mountain range.

These plants also known as Pangue are edible, I knew this thanks to Karl a Chilean friend with whom I traveled for a while on a bicycle, he stopped on the rubble slope, took out his razor and cut the stem of one of the leaves, what He opened and ate the meat that was inside, it was refreshing and juicy, a little sour, the truth is that I liked it.

You have to know how to handle them well, the leaves are rough and have thick hairs, and at the time I was in the area (southern summer) they were full of poisonous worms that eat nalca leaves. Undoubtedly they gave a prehistoric and picturesque aspect to the landscapes, it was like being in the Jurassic Park movie, but without velociraptors.
