Awesome that you've carried on and pushed past the 100 HP mark, great milestone! Congratulations!
Saw that I was tagged here by @plantstoplanks so thought I'd try to shed some light on the things you brought up in your post π
Good call to just power up 100% of author rewards if you just want to increase your power without having to worry about anything else. If you're feeling adventurous, you can keep it at 50/50 and then play around with the internal market to get you used to the dynamics of how markets work but you'll need to be shown a few things as, if you've never done it before, can be a bit overwhelming! Might do a post about the internal markets in the near future π
Hive, Hive Power, Hive Backed Dollars - why so many? Could a consensus not be reached on which was best π? I understand they have different uses and one is more liquid (I think) but why have so many?
Hive and Hive Power can be considered the same thing as HIVE power is just HIVE that is invested in to your account (and can be released back to you in 13 equal installments by powering down should you wish) whereas liquid HIVE is freely transferable to wherever you want it to go.
HBD was designed to be a stable coin to keep the value of something on HIVE consistent with $1, otherwise we'd just have a token - HIVE - which is flip flopping all over the place. That's the theory anyway, in practice, it fluctuates a little bit but is always MEANT to be pegged to $1 USD.
Voting - why do some of the values on some posts decrease when I upvote on them?
The value of a post isn't fully decided until the 7 day post payout so it can fluctuate in that time, depending on a couple of factors. One is the price of HIVE, another is if people have removed their votes in the time that you've voted and the page has refreshed. The other reason is a little more technical.
Each day, there's x amount of HIVE tokens created, a portion of which get distributed to authors. If there's more authors posting in a day then it means that less is distributed out between them all and so that may fluctuate the value of the post... I think... jury is still out on that finger in the air explanation haha!
Tokens - are they a second form of currency?
Do you mean the non-HIVE tokens? They are additional to HIVE rewards depending on if you have posted in a certain community or from a certain other HIVE related website. For example, if you post about money or investing, posting through the LeoFinance website will also get you some LEO tokens on top of HIVE.
Discord - I havenβt ventured into anything discord but I see it being discussed. Does discord work in conjunction with Hive? More chatting less content creation?
Discord is a separate platform to HIVE and is more of a forum for gamers but is where a lot of people on HIVE hang out to chat in as it's a lot easier to manage. Until there's an online chat function integrated with HIVE, sadly, this is all we have at the moment but I do believe that there's work being done to develop an integrated Hive chat on site π
Twitter - although I think Iβve always been confused by Twitter. Is it just for promotion of Hive to a wider group?
Twitter is another social media site but limits the amount of characters you use. It's a bit more friendly towards cryptocurrency and blockchain based projects compared to Facebook but a lot of Hive users hang out there too!
Hope that's helped somewhat with the questions! Feel free to ask if you have any more!
