I guard my solitude jealously and it takes quite some for me to fall in love.
But when I do, I stick around...
sometimes for too long as it turns out.
I've no fear of being alone, living alone, or even dying alone these days. These last years have gifted me with the loss of almost all my once were fears and (I'll keep sharing this) without fear...
anything really is possible.
Looking back... it seems as though I based almost all of my decisions on fear and fear alone throughout my life until quite recently.
The fear of not fitting in. Of judgement for not doing what was expected of me. Of not being considered okay, successful... or even sane at times, I guess.
I've always been a bit different, you see. But, I suspect, we're all a bit different to the stereotypes foisted unwittingly upon us and there is seldom enough space for us to safely be ourselves because of them.
So perhaps, in our innermost selves, we aren't that different from each other in many ways after all. It's just hard to break the ice at times. And words can complicate things unnecessarily as well.
Music, however... often speaks straight to a soul and says what words can only suggest.
I've spent three and more years being single and grieving the loss of someone I loved deeply. Grieving hard enough to think I may not go down that road at all again...
But then I heard a voice.
And I fell in love... with the memory of love.
And... with hope...again.
I don't just mean the romantic kinda love, by the way.
I mean the love of all this life stuff.
Of being. Of living with arms wide open. The embracing it all with joy and wonder kinda love. The universal kinda love. The kind of love that keeps you going no matter how fuckin' bad things may seem sometimes.
Because you still believe kinda love. And you never know what's around the next corner... or what may happen next kinda love.
With this kinda love you can walk through just about any fire and come out even stronger. More powerful. More liberated. More at peace.
These tracks bring that feeling home to me. I use them to remember when things get a bit grim...
to remember me, I guess.
I hope you enjoy them for #ttt.
