SAAF areas of operation - WWII

The South African Air Force as an ex-British colony operated in a number of theaters on the world stage.

During World War Two South African pilots operated a number of different aircraft in a number of different theaters, covering East Africa, the Mediterranean and North Africa.

In East Africa the planes that were flown were two biplanes the Gloucester Gladiator and the Hawker Fury.
The single propeller Hawker Hurricane was also used later in the war.

In the Mediterranean operating out of Sicily were two types of Spitfire.

In North Africa the Kittyhawk and Tomahawk were used.
