When someone say they love you and you guys are in some sort of relationship arrangement, it is common to think that they aren't supposed to do you any wrong, and tht if they do you wrong it's supposed to mean they don't love you like they said.
This wrong to many of us includes mistakes. We think that if they love us as much as they're supposed to they wouldn't make so and so mistakes. They wouldn't forget so and so thing about us that would have helped them love us better. They wouldn't be careless in so and so situation because we are involved. They wouldn't do this, they wouldn't do that.
But loving someone does not change they fact that you're human. You're still prone to mistakes and frailty.
The way I usually explain this to people is by reminding them of the mistakes and wrongs they do to their own selves.
Like you go to a restaurant to eat, but forget your phone on your seat while leaving even though you love yourself and your phone with all your heart. Even though it contains passwords to your wallets, projects you haven't completed but that are worth hours of work already. Contacts you can't afford to lose, etc.
But you forget it in taxis, and all sorts of places you visit. Your love for it not withstanding.
You also know how you lazy about sometimes. You have very important tasks to do. Maybe an application for a job. A task at work. A submission you have to make in order to enable you get paid. But you're laying about and procrastinating. Do you not love yourself? Do you not realize how much you need to do these things?
Another good one is, you don't like your financial situation, so you decide to get better by learning a skill. You pay for or secure the course somehow. But now 6 months have passed and you've not completed material that should have taken you a month to complete. One year pass, and so on.
You know how much you want it, you're tired of being broke, you want the finer things. You went through quite something to get the money for the course, or you were very relieved to find out you could get the materials through research without paying. You probably even said to yourself that now you've gotten it you were going to rule the world.
Then months go by and you can't even bring yourself to put in the work and time.
If you can make mistakes and do wrongs that affect your life negatively then it only means that loving or holding a person as important above all else can't stop you from wronging them. Because you love yourself and hold yourself as important above everyone else for the most part. But here you are.
Conclusion
This is a lesson I also try to teach myself and remind myself of everyday, because, like most people, I'm fond of interpreting little mistakes and perceived wrong doings as signs that my loved ones don't love me as much as they present.
But this reminder that they are humans and humans are fundamentally flawed is there to remind me that the margin for error should be expanded.
