I think Victoria's Secret is that despite---or perhaps because of---being on the throne, she must have had a melancholic and tumultuous inner life in this complex political role caused by a strong sense of intuitive personal morality that conflicted not only with potentially abrasive events of great personal, social, and geographical impact, but also by the general psychic disaster that follows when one makes special pleading for oneself, and especially so if that is done by legitimizing the inheritance of great power by reframing the empire as a benevolent protector and civilizer, in order to retain at least some superficial similarity with one's own imbibed and professed values. But this is just a guess.
