For thirty years, the lighthouse had warned ships away from something no map showed. A thick fog rolls in off the coast of Lagar Fumpur, blocking visibility for miles around. The surrounding sea is littered with jagged rocks that are dangerous for sailors, so a lighthouse was built atop a plateau near the beach. Its light had guided ships safely to port.
But there was a problem. After 30 years of illuminating dark nights, the lighthouse's light suddenly went out one Friday. Lack of maintenance had taken its toll on the lighthouse's internal machinery. Dark nights arrived as distant ships approached the coast.
Fortunately, miraculously, just one day before the ships were due to reach the port, the lighthouse was repaired so that its light could illuminate the safe passage once more.
