Hi!
This summer the vespa velutina is everywhere in my town, is the first summer that I see them not only in the woods but also in the town, in a house's garden... I suppouse we cannot do nothing to get rid of them. I'm sure that lots of you have this wasp as natural from where you are, but here is an invasive species that its real problem with bee keepers beacause they attack and kill the bees in order to feed its childs.
I've been making some test traps and I must say that when they have made the nest they don't want more sweet (or not as much as they need in spring) so the typical liquid that you buy in the garden stores is unuseful at this point of the year. I don't know why but in august the way that I have been able to trap some of them with a mix of vinegar, sugar, water and a little of white wine. Maybe some of you have skill in velutina wasp kill and can explain to me the reason of it.
Thanks!
